🔼The name Joshah in the Bible
The name Joshah occurs only once in the Bible. Joshah, son of Amaziah is mentioned as a family chief in the genealogy of Simeon, the third son of Jacob and Leah, and the patriarch of one of the tribes of Israel (1 Chronicles 4:34).
🔼Etymology of the name Joshah
The name Joshah appears to be drawn from the root ישה, but that root isn't used in the Bible, and there's no telling what it might have meant to the Hebrews:
ישה
The verb ישה (yshh) isn't used in the Bible but it may have meant to support or assist. Its only extant derivation is the noun תושיה (tushiya), a relatively rare word meaning skill or craftiness.
