🔼Rain names
To an agrarian society, rain is of immense importance. Not enough rain can result in famine and total economic collapse. Too much of it can wash away the top soil and bring about enduring infertility. In ancient Israel, a true man of God did not only reflect law (Torah, a word related to rain; also see Isaiah 55:10-11) but could also control rain (1 Kings 8:35, 1 Kings 17:1, also see Job 28:26). Israel's reverence of rain shows in a handful of names that refer to it.
