מעט
The verb מעט (ma'at) means to be or become small, diminished or few (Exodus 12:4, 2 Kings 4:3, Nehemiah 9:32). It often occurs juxtaposed with the verb רבה (raba I), which means to be or become great or much.
This verb's sole derivative is the substantive מעט (me'at), meaning a little, a few or fewness (Genesis 30:30, Deuteronomy 7:7, Jeremiah 42:2). It occurs frequently preceded by the prefix כ (ke), meaning 'like' or 'as', and may as such be used in the sense of 'some' (a small way; 2 Samuel 19:36), or 'some' (a little bit; 2 Chronicles 12:7) or 'soon' (in a little while; Job 32:22), or 'nearly' (Psalm 73:2), or 'almost' (Proverbs 5:14), or 'barely' (Song of Solomon 3:4).
