בוס
The verb בוס (bus) means to tread down or trample. There are about a dozen occurrences of this verb in the Bible, usually with an undertone of destructiveness or subduction, usually of enemies (Zechariah 10:5, Psalm 44:5, Isaiah 63:6).
This root yields two derivatives:
- The feminine noun מבוסה (mebusa), meaning down-treading in the sense of subjugation (Isaiah 18:2).
- The feminine noun תבוסה (tebusa), meaning down-treading in the sense of ruin or downfall (2 Chronicles 22:7).
