🔼Etymology of the name Zoheth
It's not clear where the name Zoheth comes from. It may very well be drawn from a language other than Hebrew, and there is not much in Biblical Hebrew that looks like this name. However, it happens frequently with Biblical names that a final ת (taw) is due to an older spelling of a word that in Biblical Hebrew became spelled with a final ה (he). This final ה (he), in turn, may be due to a feminized form of a masculine noun זח (zh), which could be construed to derive from the root זחח (zahah), meaning to be detached:
זחח
The rarely used verb זחח (zahah) means to detach. It has no extant derivatives.
🔼Zoheth meaning
For a meaning of the name Zoheth, NOBSE Study Bible Name List reads Proud for inexplicable reasons. Alfred Jones (Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names) refers to Simonis, who went with the verb זחח (zhh) and translated our name with (the Latin equivalent of) Violent Removal. Jones adds that "there is, however, no certainty in this". BDB Theological Dictionary doesn't interpret our name and declares "meaning and etymology unknown".
