The unused verb להב (lahab) probably meant to flame or burn. Nouns להב (lahab) and להבה (lehaba) mean flame, but also denoted the blade or a sword or tip of a spear.

For a meaning of the name Lehabim, NOBSE Study Bible Name List reads Flaming. Jones' Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names has Flames, or more interpretative, Scorching Heat. There is, of course, no telling why these folks were named or known as such, but perhaps they excelled in creating very hot fires, and were arms dealers.
