🔼The name Jehubbah in the Bible
The name Jehubbah occurs only once in the Bible. He is listed among the sons of Shomer (or Shemer), son of Heber, son of Beriah, son of Asher, the eighth son of Jacob and the second son of Zilpah (1 Chronicles 7:34). Jehubbah plays no further role in the Bible.
🔼Etymology of the name Jehubbah
The name Jehubbah appears to be a future form of the verb חבה (haba), meaning to hide. Note that in regular narrative this Hebrew future form usually correlates with the English present tense:
חבא
The verb חבא (haba') means to hide, usually out of fear of death. Nouns מחבא (mahabe') and מחבא (mahabo') mean hiding place.
Verb חבה (haba) is probably a variant spelling of the previous and means the same. Noun חביון (hebyon) means a hiding.
Verb חוב (hub) means to be guilty. Noun חוב (hob) means debt.
