🔼The name Buz in the Bible
Buz is probably a country or a region, mentioned by the prophet Jeremiah as one of the recipients of the cup of the Lord's wrath (Jeremiah 25:23). Buz is mentioned along with Dedan and Tema and "all those who cut the corners of their hair". In 9:26 Jeremiah says something similar, about clipping the hair on people's temples. This activity probably has to do with some religious custom, but because of these remarks, orthodox Jews still wear their temple hair long.
This nation of Buz was probably founded by Buz, the son of Nahor and Milcah, say both NOBSE Study Bible Name List and BDB Theological Dictionary (Genesis 22:21).
Another man named Buz is mentioned in 1 Chronicles 5:14, and in Job 32:2 Job's fourth friend Elihu is called a son of Barachel the Buzite (בוזי).
