ריף
Root ריף (ryp) is a mystery and we don't know what it might have meant to the Hebrews. Its usage in the Bible is limited to a single noun: the feminine ריפה (ripa), which occurs a mere two times, in 2 Samuel 17:19 and Proverbs 27:22. From the context we may surmise that this noun denotes some kind of grain or fruit that was spread out, possibly to dry, and then beaten.
