ברק
The verb ברק (baraq) means to cast forth (of lightning). It occurs three times in the Bible: 2 Samuel 22:15, Psalm 18:14 and 144:6.
The derivations of this verb are:
- The masculine noun ברק (baraq), meaning lightning (usually of God; Exodus 19:16; Ezekiel 1:13), or the glittering of weapons (Ezekiel 21:10, Job 20:25).
- The nouns ברקת (bareqet) and the similar ברקת (bareqat), both denoting a kind of gem, possibly a sparkling emerald (Exodus 28:17, Ezekiel 28:13).
- The masculine plural noun ברקנים (baraqanim), meaning briers. The latter nim part of the word is of unclear origin, and it's not even sure if this word truly contains the root ברק (baraq). This word occurs once in the Bible, in Judges 8:7.
