עות
The verb עות ('awat) means to bend or make curved (Ecclesiastes 12:3, Psalm 146:9), to thwart or defer (Psalm 146:9) or to pervert or falsify (Job 8:3, Amos 8:5). Noun עותה ('awwata) means subversion and occurs in Lamentations 3:59 only.
A second verb that is spelled the same as the previous but pronounced with the ו (w) as a vowel rather than a consonant, is עות ('ut). It occurs only once in the Bible (namely in Isaiah 50:4) and is believed to be an Aramean version of the verb עוש ('ush), meaning to help:
עוש
The verb עוש ('ush) means to help and occurs in the Bible only in Joel 3:11. The certainty of this verb's meaning derives mostly from its occurrence in several cognate languages with the same consistent meaning of to help or support.
